Sustainable Development Goals

CDT aligns with the SDGs with a focus on SDGs 12, 17, 9 and 8.

Our consultancy supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals program. There are 17 goals in total, aimed to end extreme poverty, reduce inequality, and protect the planet by 2030.

‘An urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests’. -UN

The SDGs are a ‘blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all’ - UN

“International commitments, for instance towards climate neutrality, must be rapidly accompanied by transformative actions and investments”- SDG Report 2021

It is up to government, the business community and consumers in Australia to make the difference.

As a member of an organisation or a member of the general public (yes, sometimes you are both!) you have the right to ask brand owners for transparency about their products and ‘end of life’ strategies.

It’s not a blame game nor is it expecting any one organisation to have the sustainable ‘magic wand’.

If you specify a product, if you purchase a product, you have the power to change the world one selection, one purchase at a time.

In a post- COVID world, it is time to reimagine what is possible. And then act on it, with care and purpose.

CDT has proudly been a member of the UN Global Compact since 2024. Our four main goals are seen here.

Mandatory Reporting.

Australia has introduced mandatory climate-related disclosures starting in 2025. Businesses must report financial risks, opportunities and greenhouse gas emissions (scope 1, 2, and 3) alongside strategic plans and scenario analyses aligned with international standards.

Reporting begins with large entities (over $500M revenue) from 1 January 2025, followed by medium (over $200M) from 1 July 2026 and smaller (over $50M) from 1 July 2027. Scope 3 emissions reporting has a one-year grace period and temporary legal protections. Smart businesses are already taking voluntary steps to address these requirements ahead of deadlines to stay ahead of compliance and demonstrate leadership in sustainability. CDT offers expert guidance to help businesses meet these new requirements and prepare for compliance.
